KAPOW INTRODUCES HANA THURSDAYS: A NEW WEEKLY RITUAL FOR LADIES WHO LOVE SUSHI AND SAKE

South Florida's modern Asian destination launches weekly ladies' night with 50% off all drinks and sushi

BOCA RATON & DELRAY BEACH, FL — Kapow, the modern Asian restaurant known for its bold flavors and rebellious hospitality, today announced the launch of HANA Thursdays — a new weekly program offering ladies 50% off all drinks and all sushi, every Thursday, all day and all night.

The program debuts tonight, January 9, 2025, at both Kapow locations.

What is HANA?

花 (HANA) means "flower" in Japanese. The name reflects both Kapow's Asian roots and the spirit of the evening — a night designed for women to bloom.

"Every restaurant in South Florida does ladies' night," said Vaughan Dugan, Kapow's Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder. "We wanted something that actually meant something. HANA ties to who we are. It's elegant, it's ownable, and it gives Thursday nights an identity beyond just another discount."

The Offer

Every Thursday, ladies receive:

  • 50% off ALL drinks — cocktails, wine, sake, beer, everything
  • 50% off ALL sushi — rolls, nigiri, and sashimi (omakase excluded)
  • 40% off premium bottles — wine and sake bottles $85 and above

The discount applies to ladies only, making mixed tables welcome while keeping the economics sustainable.

More Than a Promotion

HANA joins Kapow's established weekly programming that includes ITB Mondays (industry night), TTT Tuesdays (tacos, tequila, and tomahawks), and Wine Down Wednesdays. Each night serves a distinct audience and purpose — transforming the midweek calendar from slow nights into destination dining.

"Thursday was underperforming at both locations," Dugan explained. "HANA fixes that by giving people a reason to choose us. It's not about discounting to fill seats — it's about building a ritual that becomes automatic. It's Thursday? We're going to HANA."

The Sushi Difference

While countless ladies' nights offer discounted drinks, HANA stands apart by including sushi — Kapow's signature strength. Executive Sushi Chef JM Canlas, formerly of MILA Miami's acclaimed omakase program, oversees the sushi program at both locations.

"Adding sushi isn't just a bigger discount — it's a statement," said Dugan. "This is who we are. We're not a bar running a ladies' night. We're a restaurant where the food matters as much as the drinks."

About Kapow

Kapow opened in 2011 as a 1,500-square-foot bet in Boca Raton — a group of hospitality rebels who saw a void in South Florida's dining scene. Fourteen years later, Kapow operates two locations featuring modern Asian cuisine, an acclaimed sushi program, private dining and karaoke rooms, and a hospitality philosophy rooted in community.

The brand has become a local institution — the place that stays open during hurricanes, raises money for charities, and created ITB Mondays to support service industry workers who care for everyone else.

"We've never followed the playbook," said Dugan. "Fourteen years in, we're still finding new ways to take care of people. HANA is the next chapter."
